TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An analysis by discount code portal CupoNation Indonesia found that Indonesia ranks low in Southeast Asian countries in terms of fiber optic internet connection speed, which heavily depends on a country’s infrastructure, geography, and many more elements.
According to its study, Singapore is the only country in the region that offers fiber optic internet connection with the speed up to 2 gigabytes per second (Gbps) and tops the list.
The second country with the fastest internet connection in Southeast Asia is Malaysia with the speed up to 1 Gbps, followed by the Philippines with similar performance.
Thailand ranks next by being able to provide its citizens with internet connection up to 500 megabytes per second (Mbps) while Indonesia, ranking fifth with 200 Mbps speed, could only manage to outperform Cambodia that has a fiber optic internet speed up to 30 Mbps.
